About beavers

Beavers are large members of the rodent family. They are considered the engineers of wetlands. They can create ponds, adjust water flow, and change the entire landscape. That is why beaver control is so important.

Although they do a lot of good for the environment creating habitat, they also cause a lot of damage especially if it is on your property. As they build dams, water levels rise and flood areas. As they cut down trees on slopes, those stumps start to rot, and in turn start to crumble. This causes major erosion in the bank and the soil will gradually fall down and change the structure of that landscape.

Proper Beaver Removal

Beaver removal can be a tricky process. Beavers are social animals and live in small colonies with an adult pair and their previous two litters of young. Groups of beavers occupying the same area can be difficult to combat because you are rarely ever just dealing with one.

Trapping for beavers is possible, and can be effective, but may only be a temporary solution. Water bodies that have water coming in and water leaving will almost always attract new beavers because they can just follow the path of the water to the water-body. Stand alone ponds on properties are more often the product of successful and longer term trapping. If you have a pond on your property, trapping may be a successful remedy for you.

We offer beaver trapping in the right situations.

Long-term approach

The long term way to alleviate beaver issues comes in the form of water flow devices. There are multiple styles of these devices, and their main goal is to allow water to continually flow regardless of what the beavers try to do to stop it.

Since keeping beavers away long term can be nearly impossible, these flow devices allow water to not become dammed by the beavers. They generally consist of some sort of flow pipe and a beaver protection cage/device. Fence structures can also alleviate beaver activity while allowing the water to continue flowing. If you have a water body that has a stream flowing in as well as a stream leaving, this may be the solution for you.
